Why did you decide to join the board?

“It’s the right thing to do”. It takes a village to raise a child. To survive in the mountains and to thrive in our small community collaboration is key. I feel blessed to be able to give back, to volunteer, to play a small part in the lives of the next generation.

Why did you decide to join the board?

I joined the Shepherd's Home board to help local children that do not have a safe place to call home. As a McCall native, I have seen the positive home environment that the Shepherd's Home has provided for the past 25 years and I hope that through our efforts more children are able to feel safe and loved in a true home setting.

Marc de Jong

Director

Building Contractor, Retired Fire Chief

Why did you decide to join the board?

My desire to help kids in need.

Anthony Henry

Director

I spent 15 years working in Christian Camping and youth development, 6 of that full-time. I have an AA in Criminal Justice and am taking business management classes through Boise State. I am currently the Inside Sales Manager for Franklin Building Supply and serve as the Chairman of our Employee Ownership Committee.

Why did you decide to join the board?

As a person who was raised entirely by the foster care system, I have a passion for people who have nowhere to go. For my age, I have an extensive background in youth development, facilities management, and non-profit governance. I am grateful for the opportunity to connect some of those dots and apply myself to such a valuable organization. I am at a stage in my life where I am finally ready to engage in advocacy for those who are growing up like I did.

Damien Mertz

Director

Worked as a medical Social Worker for 20 years and switch careers to provide direction and advice on Health Insurance. My service in Social work was with mainly people who had Medicare and that is where I specialize.

Why did you decide to join the board?

Being on the board for the Shepherd's Home is a privilege to be associated with such a wonderful program and people. It gives me an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who often face unique challenges and uncertainties. I hope to be able to use my experience as a social worker and as the director of a different non profit organization to provide any knowledge or insights to address the needs of foster kids and improving their overall well-being.

Jason Jamieson

Why did you decide to join the board?

Supporting the children of our community. My wife and I were house parents of the shepherds home for 5 years!

Kelly Copperi

Director

I have 27 years of experience in the public safety field, primarily in emergency communications and critical incident response management. I understand the challenges that life can give and the importance of mentors within our communities and the impact they have.

Why did you decide to join the board?

I feel passionate about giving back to the community and believe that making a positive impact on someone's life is the key to being a successful human. By being a part of this board, I am able to contribute my time and skills to help advocate for and support children of our communities in Idaho. Raising awareness about issues facing children, working on solutions with an amazing group such as the Shepherd's Home and being a voice for those who may not have one are all reasons why I decided to join this awesome organization.

Katey Basye

Why did you decide to join the board?

I decided to join the board because I want to help ensure our youth have a safe and special place to go in a time of need. It is such a special place to our family and felt it was where I needed to be!

Why did you decide to join the board?

I volunteer with Shepherd’s Home because I deeply believe in their mission. Fulfillment of the mission requires a strong financial basis. My professional and philanthropic experience have given me skills that I can apply to the shared oversight of the SHF endowment funds. One of my favorite quotes is by Winston Churchill: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

Jim Dardis

Director

Retired rural Family Physician, starting in McCall in 1987, practicing a full range of outpatient/inpatient/ER/surgical obstetrics with some General Surgery for 27 yrs in McCall, 4 years in Grangeville, 2 years in Cascade, with 2 outstanding Locums Tenens stints of 6 months each in New Zealand (2013 and 2018). My motto, if I had one, was: “To be a successful Family Physician, just treat your patients like family.” I do not have actual numbers, but am guessing I delivered btw 350-450 babies in my 27 years in McCall. What a gift to be involved with that many families!! That was the best part of my professional life.

Why did you decide to join the board?

The Shepherd’s Home fulfills a huge need in McCall. It is a privilege to help to ensure the future of this ministry by working with the Foundation. I was on the initial Bd of Directors with Bill and Dottie Basye during the formation of the Shepherd’s Home, and now that I am retired, I have much more time to give to this Board. I am really looking forward to this opportunity!
