The proper aim of giving is to put the recipients in a state where they no longer need our gifts. -C.S. Lewis

Sponsorship Opportunities: The Shepherd’s Home hosts an annual Golf Tournament, followed by live and silent auctions. Sponsorship and donation opportunities abound at this event. It is a wonderful way to support The Shepherd’s Home, while simultaneously advertising your business or corporation. This is the largest annual fundraiser that The Shepherd’s Home participates in it garners significant attention throughout the area. The success of the golf tournament depends heavily upon the generosity of sponsors and participants. If your business or corporation is interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact us for more information.
Planned Giving As the Shepherd’s Home looks to the future and defines its role within this very dynamic area, the topic of sustainability continually arises. Planned giving is one of the most effective ways to ensure that The Shepherd’s Home will continue to have a positive impact on Idaho’s children, Idaho’s families and the community at large for years to come.
Have a discussion with your tax or legal advisor about ways to make a planned charitable gift to The Shepherd’s Home, a gift that requires consideration and planning in light of your overall estate plan. There are numerous planned giving vehicles and combinations that allow you to tailor-make your gift plan. More information about Planned Giving is available under the Shepherd’s Home Foundation tab below.
Gifts of Needed Items: Caring for a household of approximately 8 children at one time requires a large quantity of supplies. If you'd like to help, please contact us for a list of typically needed items as well as specific items that the Home currently needs.
A donation of “points” from either Paul’s or Ridley’s local grocery stores is a great way to help the Home save money on the regular grocery bill. This can be handled at the customer service counter of both stores.
Gift certificates from department stores, Target, Shopko, Wal-Mart and Old Navy are an excellent way to ensure that we can provide appropriate clothing for every child who comes to the Home.
**Please Note** While we are always grateful for the thoughtfulness of our donors, it is typically more useful for the Shepherd’s Home if second hand items are taken to the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. The Hospital Auxiliary has generously agreed to provide The Shepherd’s Home with needed items, free of charge. By donating second hand items to the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop instead of the Shepherd’s Home, you will not only be ensuring that The Shepherd’s Home receives useful items, you will help The Shepherd’s Home staff save valuable time and resources in managing unneeded items. If you have questions about specific items, please feel free to contact the Home office.
How Are Monetary Donations Utilized?
Annual Operation Costs for the Shepherd’s Home: $82,000
Includes food, utilities, clothing, transportation, staff salaries, and home maintenance.
This also pays for the invaluable services associated with breaking the cycle of abuse that many of our residents are caught in.
Counseling for children and parents
Parenting classes and resource materials available to all community members
Opportunities to become involved in the community through wilderness activities, school sports, youth group activities, etc.
National Average is $109.59/day/child for publicly funded foster care that does not typically cover care associated with prevention.
The State of Idaho reimburses the Shepherd’s Home for a state-placed child at an average rate of $25.00/day/child; thus, 85-90% of the funds needed to operate the home must be raised primarily through private and foundation donations.
The cost to meet the needs of the Shepherd’s Home children is substantial, but it is minimal compared to the results of inaction. Ultimately, $108 per day is a small price to pay for hope, healing, community health, compassion and a whole life-time of possibilities for a child. There aren't enough opportunities to thank you for your continued support of the Shepherd’s Home.
